When I Was a Boy.

The article reports on the success of the twice-a-week column of reminiscences of Editor H. Jack Blanton for the "Saint Louis Globe-Democrat" magazine. Blanton began each column with the phrase "When I was a boy..." and then described his memory of Paris and northeastern Missouri. He also revisited his rural schoolhouse, his aunt's funeral, the Democratic political rally and a bucket-brigade fire.
