Abstract

The article offers information on transistor, a tiny device than can replace vacuum tubes and invented by Bell Telephone Laboratories (Bell Labs) under Doctor William Shockley with developments handled by the team of J. A. Morton in 1952. It explains the operations of transistors that use germanium and phosphorous whose biggest advantage over vacuum tubes is the lack of heated filament. The American Association of Aeronautical Engineers listened to Doctor A. E. Anderson of Bell Labs about the latest transistor progress.
