Abstract
- The article reports on the strike of railway workers that stranded many passengers in Paris, France. The strike is part of a nationwide stoppage of work that is promoted by the Communists to challenge the cost control measures of Premier Joseph Laniel. In order not to give in to the demands of the strikers, the government provided essential services using volunteers and prisoners. The labor unions need a pretext so that the workers may be able to return to work.
