Abstract

The article focuses on the loss of Amateur Athletic Union of the United States (AAU) champion Jeff Farrell in the 100 and 800-meter Olympic swimming trials the U.S. It states that Farrell underwent an emergency appendectomy six days before the trials that would hurt everytime he hits the water. It claims that he had the fastest time during the first 100-meter trial and semi-finals and finished the 800-meter relay in fourth place despite his appendectomy.
