Abstract
- The article offers information on the failure of the U.S.-backed invasion of Cuba's Bay of Pigs in April 1961. Accordingly, top deputy Richard M. Bissell had warned that the invasion force will stand little chance without the fire power support of B-26 bombers, but White House staffers including chief of Naval Operations Arleigh Burke were opposed to the idea. The single compromise of the invasion stood a mischance on the ready jets and ground forces of Cuban president Fidel Castro.
