Abstract
- The article reports on the chaos that occurred in Brazil after the resignation of Janio Quadros as President of the country in 1961. It states that the violence started when the powerful military leaders in the country hindered the election of Vice President Joao Goulart as replacement of Quadros. Furthermore, they warned Goulart that he will be arrested if he returns in the country from his tour in China.
