Abstract

The article focuses on the tour of musician Stan Kenton with his band in Cleveland, Ohio. The tour shows the support of Kenton's crew in riding the crest of a post-rock 'n' roll revival of interest in bands. Kenton adds the sound of the mellophonium, a kind of straightened French horn, to his usual musical trademark of jazzed-up dissonances. The sound of this horn makes the band as the briskest moneymaker.
