Abstract

The article focuses on the life and works on Arthur Bowen Davies, the prime mover of the modern art in the U.S. It highlights Davies' genre of modernism in his works by portraying youthfulness displayed by nymphs and little girls and his support to the 1913 Armory Show of Modern Art in New York City. Details related to the surge of the cubist movement after the Armory Show, the death of Davies in Florence, Italy, and the exhibition of his paintings in Utica, New York are also presented.
