Abstract

The article reports on the dilapidating condition of the film industry in Soviet Union. It is reported that, before Joseph Stalin came into power in the year 1924 in the country cinema was considered as the most important of the arts, but after that it has been branded as the greatest means of mass agitation resulting in substantial government regulation over the industry. It is reported that, several famous film personalities including, Andrei Tarkovsky, have been harassed by the government.
