Abstract

The article discusses the social conditions of the Soviet Union. It is stated that although hereditary classes have been abolished by the country's Communist government, the elite nachalstvo community, which consists of the country's ruling and military class, is at the peak of the social hierarchy. It is reported that while a majority of the country's population queues up for scarce consumer goods, Soviet elitists enjoy the use of country dachas, yachts and resorts.
