Abstract

The article focuses on the use of the online social networking service Facebook as an educational tool to assist students in their classes. It states that a sample of undergraduate students from Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey were selected to determine the extent they appreciated the formal application of online social networking in the classroom. It mentions that data was collected through a questionnaire consisting of 16 Likert-type items and face-to-face interviews. It comments that students believed Facebook should only be one aspect in teaching and learning but did believe it could be utilized in knowledge-sharing in formal education contexts. It talks about student-teacher relations and student-student relations through Facebook.
