Abstract
- The article presents an examination of Washington state's Columbia Basin Project that provides farmers in eastern Washington with water supplied by the reservoir behind the Grand Coulee Dam. It examines the struggle that took place between the farmers that negotiated the deal for the irrigation water and the United States Bureau of Reclamation. It discusses issues that arose as a result of drainage and delivery issues and examines the farmers dislike of Bureau Commissioner Floyd Dominy. It discusses the involvement of Senators Henry Jackson and Warren Magnuson and examines how the Bureau eventually renegotiated the farmer's repayment plan.
