Abstract

The article examines whether President Wallace W. Atwood has destroyed the cooperative spirit of scientific research at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Under his presidency, Atwood discontinued the departments of biology and mathematics and reduced the staffs in psychology and sociology in a bid to establish the best university course in geography. Faculty members eventually made public charges against Atwood. In response to the charges, Atwood argues that his critics are radicals and attributed the department closures to lack of funds.
