Abstract
- The article discusses the achievement gap in U.S. education between minority and Caucasian children and between poor and rich children. The author considers the effectiveness of several intervention methods, including early childhood education programs like Head Start at preparing minority children for school, charter schools, and whole school interventions at the K-12 education level. Other topics include the Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP), mentoring in education, and the benefits of using smaller scale interventions to help students.
