Abstract
- The article discusses the enthusiasm for three-dimensional (3-D) motion pictures of Jeffrey Katzenberg, chief executive of film studio DreamWorks Animation. Katzenberg believes a variety of media including movies, billboards, and smartphone screens will predominantly use the 3-D format within 20 years. At DreamWorks all animated films will be made in 3-D. He first realized the promise of 3-D after seeing the movie "The Polar Express" in 2004. Katzenberg was instrumental in getting movie studios and film exhibitors to agree on sharing the costs for projectors that can display 3-D films.
