Abstract

The article examines research on the role of plant transcription factors (TF) in adaptive variation. Control of genetic transcription is attributed to the combined activity of multiple TF binding to cis-elements in their promoters. Strategies for engineering plants in the future are expected to be influenced by the possible evolution of phenotypic variation through changes in genes encoding lower-order TF. It suggests exploring lower-order regulators of cell development and metabolism to engineer plant traits.
