The author reflects on the technical advances in the field of diagnostic microbiology and immunology in Asia Pacific. He discusses several advanced molecular techniques for detection, characterization and typing of microbial pathogens from the U.S. which are adapted in Asia Pacific especially in Japan and China. He hopes more innovations and achievements in biotechnology in the Asia Pacific.
