Abstract

The article reports that Electro-Nucleonics Laboratories in Bethesda, Maryland had developed a "hemagglutination inhibition test" for detecting hepatitis-associated antigens (HAAs) in the bloodstream that may help stem the incidence of serum hepatitis as of 1971. The test is said to be 1,000 times more effective in spotting hepatitis antibodies than other existing methods and is expected to be in use across the U.S. by 1971. It adds that the New York University Medical Center has also produced an experimental anti-hepatitis vaccine in 1971.
