Abstract

The article discusses the impact of the new economic program that was introduced by U.S. President Richard Nixon in various industries in the country as of August 1971. In the shoe industry, the program could result in improved sales due to the 10% surcharge imposed on exports. According to American Footwear Manufacturers Association president Mark Richardson, the scheme is a welcome development in the sector. The other industries that were also examined include the tire, food and metals sectors.
