Abstract

The article reports on the opening of the Colony, a mobile-home park in Palm Springs, California, in October 1973. The 40 acres park can accommodate about 220 mobile homes each occupying a one fifth of an acre space. It charges a fee of 265 to 350 U.S. dollars a month. It is owned by real estate operator Arthur W. Carlsberg and the brainchild of California film producer Lewis Kerner. The private empire of Carlsberg will eventually control 350 million U.S. dollars in real estate. Some features of the park are provided.
