Abstract

The article presents a study which examines the coloration properties of aminolyzed polyester and its pilling propensity. Disperse, acid, basic and reactive dyes were investigated and applied to normal polyester, hydrolyzed polyester, nylon 6, cationic dyeable polyester, acrylic and ethylenediamine (EDA) treated polyester. It mentions that EDA of aminolysis of polyester does not only improve disperse dyeing, but also builds dyeability with multiple classes of dyes. It notes that the combined affect in absorbency and tensile properties improvement also results to better performance in pilling tendency.
