Abstract

The article reports on the tour of U.S. companies by managers of the shoe company Bata to study U.S. management techniques. The structure of large U.S. companies were also studied by the shoe company's executives by visiting the American Management Association Academy, Brown Shoe Co., and Melville Shoe Corp. The executives found that U.S. executives are more concerned with dealing with competitors.
