Abstract
- The article reports on the Karnal bunt regulatory program implemented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) in December 2010, the purpose of which is to protect the wheat exports of the U.S. It says that restrictions on imports of infected wheat have been imposed by numerous countries free of Karnal bunt. According to the author, certificates are being issued by the USDA based on the use and survey of quarantines. The financial risk carried by possible Karnal bunt contamination for grain elevators is also discussed.
