Abstract

The article features Jamsetjee Nusserwanjee Tata, the Parsi patriarch who founded Tata Sons, Ltd., India's largest industrial complex in 1868. Presiding over the empire is Jehangir Rattan Dadabhai Tata who runs a vast complex of interests including metalworking, electric power, and locomotives. The Tatas pioneered an airline that grew into Air India International, and later also went into the manufacture of locomotives and trucks.
