Abstract
- We present the first reliable determination of the line shape of the collision induced Raman spectrum of mercury vapour down to frequencies of about 1.5cm-1 at temperatures which are low enough that bound dimers make an important contribution to the spectrum. These new data are accurate enough to permit for the first time a reliable determination of the anisotropy of the mercury diatom as a function of the interatomic separation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
