Abstract

This article offers details on the decision of Indian Motorcycle Co. of Springfield, Massachusetts to offer rival British motorcycles in its dealerships in the U.S. It presents a background of why Indian decided to sell the British products, including the rising cost of making their lightweight "Scout" motorcycles and mounting losses. It explains that Indian is not balking on its focus on lightweight motorcycles, and sees the products from J. Brockhouse & Co., Ltd. to continue on this concept, as the latter company and others see it as a "golden chance."
