Abstract

The article reports on the problems with the foreign sources of commodities supply, including copper, cocoa, newsprint and aluminum. The shipment of copper from Chile ceased when the U.S. refused Chile's offer to buy its entire production at 33.5 cents per pound. The price of Canadian newsprint has increased from 45 dollars a ton at the start of World War II to 126 dollars by June 15, 1952. The U.S. reportedly needs to increase its aluminum supply although it is not known how this supply should be increased.
