Abstract

The article reports on the cotton-textile industry in China as of May 21, 1949. It is said that Communist armies have entered Shanghai where about fifty percent of the industry operate. It discusses the problem that the industry will be faced with under the Communist regime, including shortage of supply of raw cotton since there will allegedly be no more gifts of this material from the Economic Cooperation Administration or the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA).
