Abstract

The article reports on Japan's increased stake in North America with more and more investments. Ranging from a 70 million dollars pulp mill in Alaska to an 8 million dollars automobile plant in Mexico, Japan's investment in the region run between 200 to 300 million dollars. The biggest of the Japanese project involves the development of huge Athabasca tar sands in Canada as an alternate source of crude oil.
