Abstract

This section presents abstracts of articles on economics which were published in the December 1964 issue of The Economic History Review. The paper titled Tonnages, Medieval and Modern, by Frederic C. Lane, describes the distinction between gross registered, net registered, displacement, deadweight, measurement freight and old registered tonnage. The paper titled Provisions for Armies, 1509-50: A Study in the Effectiveness of Early Tudor Government, by C. S. L. Davies, discusses the measurement of the ability of the government to feed its armies. The paper titled The Price Revolution, by J. D. Gould, looks at several issues in pricing and prices. The paper also discusses the history and origin of the Price Revolution in Great Britain.
