Abstract

The article presents a study which focuses on the optical waveguide properties of ferroelectric LiTaO<subscript>3</subscript> crystals. The study used laser pulses in crystal photoexcitation and conducted a refractive index profile calculation. The study shows that optical waveguide can be determined inside LiTaO<subscript>3</subscript> crystals using focused femtosecond laser pulses. It also reveals the polarization-sensitivity of the waveguide.
