Abstract

The article reports on the emergence of the political movement by African American leaders which seeks for ways to promote their agenda of economic goals in the U.S. Vernon E. Jordan Jr., executive director of the National Urban League (NUL) and spokesman of such drive, contends that economic and social issues are responsibility of both the government and African Americans. Among the economic goals pushed by these leaders are full employment, welfare reform and effective affirmative action.
