Abstract

The article presents information on fiber-reinforced composite materials developed by George Peterson at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, that are lighter and stronger, and will be used for building military airplanes. The material will be tried for making helicopters and airplanes by 1968. It is stated that by the late 1970s, the U.S. Air Force is expected to have all-composite airplanes that will be much lighter than today's aircraft.
