Abstract
- The article offers information on the origins of the term "Steampunk" that has been used to describe a type of modern science fiction citing the works of nineteenth-century writers Jules Verne and H. G. Wells. The term was coined by modern science-fiction writer K. W. Jeter to describe a work set in a glorious Victorian/Edwardian England, a time when steam engines ruled. Information is also provided on the difference of steampunk literature with cyberpunk literature.
