Abstract

The article focuses on the increase in the number and diversity of art institutions in New York. It mentions the most popular cultural district Museum Mile, which has El Museum del Barrio and the soon-to-open Museum of African Art. It says that better understanding of how cultural tastes are formed results to understanding inequality. It adds that residential segregation is one of the cultural segregation that can be used in explaining differences in the acquisition of cultural capital.
