Abstract

The article presents the results of a public health investigation that confirmed HIV transmission via transplantation of an organ from a living donor. An adult with renal failure acquired a kidney transplant from a living donor at a hospital in New York City in 2009. An analysis unveiled a previous diagnosis of syphilis and a history of sex with male partners. The kidney of the donor was removed with no complication.
