Abstract
- The article discusses the integration of immigrants in Québec. The author refers to the 2001 Québec Kirpan court case concerning a student wearing a ceremonial dagger to school. The disconnect between Canadian multiculturalism and the québécois model is examined. Also discussed is the "crise des accommodement raisonnable" (reasonable accommodation crisis) that took place in Québec between 2006 and 2008. A definition concerning the Canadian model based on liberal pluralism is provided. Research by québécois researchers Louis-Georges Harvey and Stéphane Kelly concerning Québec's Republican tradition is presented. Further topics include cultural unity, the legitimacy of integration, and Québec's main problems concerning integration.
