Craufurd Goodwin and History of Political Economy: A Double Anniversary.

The article presents a history of the journal "History of Political Economy" ("HOPE") which largely focuses on the role of journal editor and professor Craufurd Goodwin in its forty-year development. The author provides biographical information on Goodwin, emphasizing his career as an economics scholar and academic administrator. The importance of the professionalization of the study of economics, as represented by the formation of the History of Economics Society, to the success of "HOPE" is explained as well. It is noted that the issue's articles are largely taken from discussions at the conference "The Uses of Economics: Past and Future," which celebrated the 40th anniversary of the journal.
