Abstract
- The article reports that the government of Sydney, New South Wales has made changes in the licensing of coal seam gas (CSG) explorations in the state. CSG exploration permits are sought by major energy firms due to the rich coal resources of the region particularly in the Gloucester Basin. Certain issues such as the lack of concurrent approval from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW) and the absence of community consultation prior to licensing of explorations have been raised and resulted to the new regulations.
