El ambiente: espacios de sociabilidad gay en la ciudad de México, 1968-1982.

This article discusses gay culture in Mexico City, Mexico in the second half of the 20th century. It examines the development of the social construction of a gay identity in specific locations within the city. The author also studies the hostility directed towards the gay community, referencing oral testimonies, personal memoirs written by witnesses to the homophobic atmosphere, and other historical documents from the time period. An analysis of the creation of the Mexican Homosexual Liberation Movement is also provided.
