Abstract

The article discusses presents information on a study which investigated the direct fluorination, mechanical thermal and morphological properties of Twaron fiber and high density polyethylene (HDPE) composites. The methods and measures of the study are described, including surface fluorination of Twaron fiber using elemental fluorine. The study showed higher tensile strength and modulus of fluorinated Twaron fiber compared with nonmodified fiber composites.
