Abstract

The article describes the Muchmore hard red spring wheat cultivar developed at Semiarid Prairie Agricultural Research Centre, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. It is derived from the cross Alsen/Superb designated B0065 and the six hundred and forty-nine F<subscript>1</subscript>-derived doubled haploid lines were generated using the maize pollen method. Its characteristics include a spike that is parallel sided of medium density, a hard red type, medium red colour kernel and an expressed resistance to prevalent races of leaf rust, stem rust and common bunt.
