Abstract

The article discusses the juxtaposition of the poems "On the Smooth Floor" and "Like a Fowl in a Butcher's Grasp," by Rachel Bluvstein and Avraham Shlonsky respectively, in the literary supplement of the newspaper "Musaf Davar." It focuses on the critical dimensions of gender and modernist Hebrew poetry. The author suggests that the juxtaposition represents the coexistence of different forms of poetic modernism in the Yishuv, or the Jewish community, in the pre-state Palestine in the 1920s.
