Abstract: The article presents a study which investigates the effect of the guideline by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) which recommends the use of antibiotic prophylaxis for infective endocaditis prevention. The study made use of the DR. Foster Intellligence for data access of hospital activity for inpatients in England. The result of the study shows the lack of evidence for the upward trend of changed cases after the guideline introduction.
