Abstract
- A biography of American poet and author James Russell Lowell is presented. He was born on February 22, 1819, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and studied at Harvard University. In August 1840, he graduated from the Law School, and got engaged to Maria White. Lowell published his first book of verse, "A Year's Life," in 1841, and thereafter, he published many poems and essays in the magazines of the time.
