Democratising assessment of researchers' track records: a simple proposal.

The article proposes a more democratic method of assessing the track records of researchers in Australia. It shows how to ensure a better match between reviewer expertise and grant applicant. It is suggested that all researchers submitting grant applications should be mandated to rank the track records of a reasonable number of their peers. It recommends the provision of links to publications, citations and grant successes to assist in the ranking process.
