Abstract

An essay is presented on the racialization of Mexican Americans in the U.S. Particular focus is given to the effects of conflicts between the U.S. eugenics movement and U.S. interests in Latin America on attitudes towards Mexican Americans. Details related to the classification of Mexicans as a separate, nonwhite race in U.S. records are presented. Other topics include the U.S. Department of State, the Good Neighbor Policy, and white supremacy.
