Abstract

The article focuses on the chemical constituents of red algae Chondrophycus papillosus (C. papillosus) and their cytotoxic activity. It states that various compounds were isolated and identified from C. papillosus including aristolane sesquiterpenes, linear diterpene, and polybrominated indoles. Moreover, the metabolites such as aristolen-9β-ol, Tetrabomo-1-methyl-1H-indole, and Tetrabromoindole showed cytotoxity against tumor cell lines like chronic myelogenous leukemia cells (K562).
