Abstract
- The article discusses the strategies to reduce winter hay needs in the U.S. According to David Lalman, Oklahoma State University (OSU) Extension beef cattle specialist, there are three ways to reduce winter needs by almost a third by feeding an ionophore, limit-feed hay and reducing hay waste. He added that giving cows' access to hay for 6 hours/day reduces intake by 20-25%.
