Abstract

The article reports on the issuance of a concept paper by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) which says distributors of financial products who call themselves investment advisors cannot accept any commission from financial companies. According to the capital markets regulator, investment advisors should instead charge a fee only from investors they are servicing. The article mentions that receiving commissions would lead distributors to favor investors that pay better.
